The Roses is Arrived!
When I open the box, I was disappointed. The roses are all squish. I can see the vein but I can also see the stains on the roses. I can tell, they probably just laid the flower on the floor. They are also a lot bigger than I thought. I can't picture how these dirty roses can be my wedding bouquet. I felt I have lost $150... I was very disappointed at that moment. Together with other overwhelmingly outstanding tasks I have to take care of... I want to give up and just order from the florist. Fortunately, my budgeting instinct forced me to rethink about this decision.
From Worst to Ready
I should try to work something out with these flower first. I try to use eraser to clean the petal, haha. I try to wash the petal. But nothing seems to work. I end up cutting the dirty edge out. It works great! It also reduce the size of the roses to fit into my original vision of the bouquet. I use a glue gun to to reshape the flower into perfect shape. After 5 hours of work. The roses look ready to assemble. They are now pretty again.
The ingredients
These silk roses are very expensive originally. I want to make this as the focus. These bouquet should look so fancy that no real roses will be able to compare. So, I pick up some little white flower with jewels at the center. I dissembled the pearls from two of my fake pearl necklaces. I added some ribbons. After 10 hours of cut and glue, my bridal bouquet is born.
The Bouquet
The final result of the bouquet is very encouraging. It is everything I want. I said to myself: If the bouquet I made is not prettier than the maid of honor bouquet I ordered, I should just order from the florist. But I pass!! It is absolutely stunning!! Do you agree??
The Boutonnieres
Using the remain of the silk roses, I made all the boutonnieres too.
Honey's one have everything elements I have in my bouquet, signify we will share everything we have with each other.
The parent's one has a big pearl on top of the roses, I thought of this design because of the Chinese Idiom "掌上明珠". Chinese call their daughter as the precious pearl on their hands. We are two girl getting married. The roses are our parents, we are both their' "掌上明珠".
The last two are for Olive and Ted. They are our the maid of honor and best man. Both of them are younger than us. I made the boutonnieres look more open minded. Do you feel that in the design??
Budget Review
At the end of this flower project, I've spend around $200 for all the flowers including shipping and other peripheral items. Well under my budget. I am so glad that I gave it a try. The result is SUPER!!
P.S. Thank you honey for these beautiful pictures~
