The Wedding invitation: Done and Sent!

The invitation is one of our wedding project. It consists of three parts: the information pages, the enclosure+envelope and the wax stamp on the invitation.

The information page
20100405-DSCF8932-2We want our invitation custom to us. So, I did some research on how to write a wedding invitation. Something that are worth mentioning such as, We have dress code details for butches and femmes and our wedding location is on Dyke Rd. hahaaa~

Originally, the invitation is a set of "print it yourself" from Martha Stewart. But we got lucky! hee~ We are so lucky that our friend Lillian, who is a professional graphic designer, help us to design the detail pages. The result is millions time better than if we print it ourselves. Thanks to Lillian!

The enclosure-envelope
We bought the Martha Stewart cosmos invitation set. It came with a very pretty flower die-cut enclosure. Lillian suggested us to have the pink shown through the die-cut. It was such an excellent idea. Together with the pink page inside, the invitation looks so elegant yet cute. It's totally Carman's style and May loves it too. hhaaaha~

20100405-DSCF8930-1The wax stamp
Thinking back the first few months when we designing the invitation, I thought of using a wax stamp with out wedding logo to seal the invitation. The only problem is, custom made such a complex design in a wax seal stamp is extremely expensive in North America. But that didn't stop me from this idea. I turned my eyes to Hong Kong market. I found a company in Hong Kong who has 35 years experience of making wax seal. They only charge me less than $30 CAD for a 35mm stamp. Their service was a pain in the ass. Fortunately, they get the job done.

So, the last step of making the invitation is using the stamp to kinda sealing the enclosure. I ordered a rose petal pink wax. I bought some brown ribbons and a glue gun. Then I use almost 5 hours to put all of them together!

It is quite hard to do as a matter of fact.I practiced a few time before I do it on the invitations. Unfortunately, I can never get the edges right. It seems I couldnt quite get the amount of wax right. After around 20 invitations, I found that every stamp (35mm) need around 5 pumps of wax using the glue gun. Although some of the invitation is not so perfect, but they all look very sophisticated.

The keep sake box
After finishing the invitations, I steal the idea from Miss cocoa bean and make a keep sake box to show all my wedding stationary. The box will be one of my decorative pieces. Yeah!
